Welcome to our school website. Here we will keep you up to date with the many exciting and innovative learning experiences and opportunities that take place in Magheralough P.S., Trillick.

Our school is an exciting hub of learning at the heart of the rural community of Trillick. We work closely with parents, the Parish and the wider community to ensure that each child reaches his/her full potential. We believe learning should be fun and exciting as well as challenging and engaging. At Magheralough Primary School we believe that every child has the ability to achieve and the right to a broad and balanced curriculum. We promote all aspects of the curriculum, foster in children a love of reading and writing from an early age, and encourage everyone to become involved in the arts, whether that is through drama, singing, dancing, music making or practical art, as well as promoting exercise, health and team work through our sporting activities.

School opens at 8.30am, and there are after school clubs everyday!

We recognise the important role parents and carers play in the education of their childrenat Magheralough Primary School and work hard to develop positive relationships. The support of parents and carers is crucial in ensuring that all children are able to achieve their full potential.

We hope you enjoy our website and should you wish to find out more about the school andwhat we do please feel free to make an appointment and I will be delighted to show you around

A Bit About Us!

Wild Flower Garden and outdoor area

The wild flower garden at Magheralough is a credit to the children and parents. We have begun improving the hedgerow, planting fruit trees, planting wild-life flowers, creating a bug hotel, bird feeders and composting.

Already we have put up many hardwood posters which depict many kinds of birds and life cycles. The hen coop, hens and a rooster are now an established feature of school life. We sell our eggs in order to purchase meal for the hens.

There are chalk boards now in place outside the school so that the children can draw and there are a multitude of large outdoor games such as Chess, Draughts, Connect Four and Badminton.

We have a new outdoor play area which promotes the physical development of children at the school.

iPad's - Working with Ulster University

Last year the school purchased twenty five Apple ipads for all KS2 children and for all the staff. The aim of this project is to ensure that this technology will become an essential and integrated part of the learning that takes place in the school.

The school is working in conjunction with the University of Ulster. Professor Paul Moore, the project manager, has held workshops with both parents and children. Contracts which clearly state the protocols involved around the use of these technologies have been signed by both children and parents.

The real value in this initiative is that it is connected to a pedagogic practice. The use of ipads in now embedded into KS2 learning. The children use their ipads in many lessons to broaden their understanding or research their thoughts further.

School Council

Last year we saw the election of Magheraloughs first ever school council!

We have again held elections this year and a new school council have taken their positions.

We have scheduled meetings and debates to be held very soon. School council is a vital element of daily life in Magheralough.

We firmly believe the pupil voice is just as important as the teachers and staff.

This is the children's school and we need to consider their views.
